[BAREUM CNB Publisher Alex Kim] - Seeking the meaning of art education and directions for cultural and artistic accessibility
The Cheonan City Art Museum announced on the 26th that it will hold a seminar for disabled people's culture and arts in November.
First, on November 14, a seminar for the developmental disability family cultural accessibility art education program 'Beyond the Program: A Place for Expression' will be held at the Cheonan City Culture Center, Cheonan City.
From the perspective that 'art is a precious trace of play,' we plan to share the experience of 'Miso Creative Studio,' which has been held in Cheonan City over the past four years, and to revisit the various meanings discovered during the process.
Cultural arts planner Choi Sun-young will lead the seminar and present a research paper, while instructors from the Smile Creation Studio, Yoon Seon-hee and Chae Kyung-seo, will lead a case study workshop. Additionally, Professor Hong Hye-jin of the Department of Dance at National Chungju University will present a regional case study. Through these activities, the event will examine cases of disability arts and related policies, aiming to explore the long-term direction of arts education for people with disabilities.
On November 16, a seminar on enhancing cultural and artistic accessibility capabilities titled 'Planning for Accessibility – Culture and Arts for All' will be held as part of the '2026 Support Project for Activating Access to Culture' supported by the Korean Disabled Culture and Arts Foundation, held at Sonobel Cheonan.
Starting with Director Park Sin-hee's keynote speech on 'New Practices in Cultural and Artistic Accessibility' from his Institute for the Artistic Entrepreneurial Spirit, Cultural and Artistic Planner Kwon Jeong-won and Policy Monitoring Unit Head Jung Ji-young of the Gimcheon Disabled Persons' Independent Living Center will jointly discuss practical measures to enhance accessibility in the cultural and artistic fields, including exhibitions, education, and viewing environments, while highlighting disability arts from various perspectives.
This seminar is a venue to examine together the direction of development of art education for people with disabilities and the practical tasks of improving cultural and artistic accessibility, and it is expected to add meaning to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the arts and creating an inclusive cultural and artistic environment.
Registration is free. Participants may register by scanning the QR code (information image) in the press release. Each seminar will accommodate approximately 40 participants, and duplicate registrations are permitted. On-site registration will also be conducted depending on the situation at the venue.
