[BAREUM CNB Publisher Alex Kim] -

[BAREUM CNB Publisher Alex Kim] - Recognition of achievements in creating child-centered experience spaces
- Establishing a place for daily life where children stay continuously
Cheonan City achieved the success of winning the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the '2026 Republic of Korea Public Design Awards' held on the 23rd.
The 'Republic of Korea Public Design Awards', organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Crafts Council and Design Culture Promotion Institute, recognizes outstanding projects and research achievements that have contributed to creating beautiful and convenient daily living spaces for citizens through public design.
The City received the Minister's Award in the business sector, public space and architecture category for the 'Cheonan Dujung Library Children's Room for Tomorrow Creation Project.'
The city collaborated with Seed and First Penguin Foundation in 2023 to newly establish a children's room in the library as a "children's experience-centered" room for tomorrow's children. The space planning reflected the results of in-depth analysis on children's usage patterns, including four months of on-site observation and one-on-one interviews.
In particular, it has established itself as a daily life hub where children come on their own and stay continuously, by making active creative experiences such as 'work' the main content of the space, going beyond the static library usage methods of the past.
A city official said, 'Based on the operational data accumulated so far, we will plan content that reflects children's interests and demands, creating a space that children will consistently visit and stay in for a long time. Furthermore, as a new library model, we will actively share our operational results and experiences with other libraries.'
